“Our perceived scarcity of money is what pushes us into unhappy jobs”

Last year I had a major problem-a rat problem
Sounds funny, but it’s true. As I walked through the kitchen door by 5:00 am every morning, I saw a big black unwelcomed rat dash from behind the freezer.
I wish I could say this was a one-time event, but I’d be lying- It was the same cycle day after day after day- I go prepare breakfast at 5:00 am, and after about 15 seconds, the rat waits for me to move to the cooker, then makes a sharp beeline dash behind the cooker. The terror.
I wasn’t alone in my torment- other members of the household confirmed this rather strange sighting in the morning.
After many failed attempts to capture this torturer, the right sticky gum finally works, and the rat is no more (or is it?)
When l looked back at the whole period of terror, I noticed something interesting transpired- even many months after the rat ‘left’, I kept expecting the rat to jump from behind the fridge and dash behind the cooker.
But the rat never came.
Although I still believe the rat is going to dash out from behind the fridge, it doesn’t. it’s all in my head at this point.
That scary (rats and roaches are demonic o) series of events eventually led to a profound breakthrough for me- because the experience revealed to me that limiting beliefs about money doesn’t just stop us from doing what we love – it also limits what we can achieve in life.
Truth is, no matter how much I choose to concentrate on seeing the rat, it didn’t mean that I had to stay in the kitchen with one eye over my shoulder- it wasn’t the best use of my time.
Thinking back, it wasn’t necessary to limit me because of what I believed was going to happen. Now, what’s that got to do with your finances I hear you asking? well 90% of us walk through life with the absolute wrong beliefs about money
Not to worry! These 7 beliefs that will assist you in improving your financial situation in 2021:
- Belief #1: “ I do something every day to improve my financial well-being “
- Belief #2: “By being accountable, I constantly improve the quality of my life”
- Belief #3: “Because money-making is fun, I am more focused and intentional about increasing my net worth
- Belief #4: “I’m so happy and grateful there are more opportunities to make money than ever before”
- Belief #5: “It’s never about the money it’s about growth”. Simple. The money serves as a measuring stick
- Belief #6: “Because I know how to solve my money problems, I am a role model for others”
- Belief #7: “Because I have positive feelings about money, I attract more and more of it “
And here’s a bonus belief: “I’m so happy and grateful I’m surrounded by money experts. Because being honest about your spending (i.e. not hiding/justifying spending, not coming up with imaginary money) works!
It’s important to remember that limiting beliefs about money doesn’t just stop us from doing what we love – it also limits what we can achieve in life. Maybe your version of the rat is spending your time working at a job you don’t like because we’re consumed by our fear of not having enough money. This is not your portion. Amen
By living these 8 beliefs, expect to transform into someone who is winning at life- and that’s cool. Especially because after you win, you can then help others win too at the whole financial journey thing.
